Sorry for the lack of blogging, I have been crazy busy lately getting started on my thesis paper for my senior seminar class along with working, getting my Halloween costume ready, etc. But I'm back! I know you missed me. :)
A couple of weeks ago, Heidi and I were so surprised to find a package in the mail. Since neither of us was expecting anything, we were probably overly excited, especially when we saw who it was from...our best Sevillan friend Jackie! Heidi had to bring it to me right before I went into work, and we basically just teared it open in my car! Paper ripping everywhere, packing dust flying...and some amazing Texas gear. A couple of "Don't Mess With Texas" shirts and some shot glasses- the perfect gifts from a girl we are seriously missing! Can't wait until you get our package to you :)
I have some exciting upcoming plans for January...just got to get them finalized before I can blog about it! But they are going to make me crazy happy if I can pull it together...can you guess where I'm going? :)

birthdays and epic comebacks.
What an amazing weekend! The only thing that could make this weekend better is if the Detroit Lions step up tonight and get a win against those Chicago Bears! :)
Friday night was so fun...it was work as usual, but then time to celebrate my friend Mariana's birthday! We went downtown and spent the night at Stiles, with some tequila, like a real Latina as she would say. It was so busy, they reached capacity for the first time ever when I've been there. Later I did go to Capitol to dance, only to get ditched for some Pepperjack's...rough! But still an awesome night, getting all dressed up with some red lipstick is my favorite thing!
Saturday I just worked a short lunch shift so I could go down to Lincoln and do some tailgating. I saw so many friends! And made a lot of new ones...But the best was getting to see my German friend Sebastian who's in town for a couple of weeks. This is the first time I've ever been on the Indian reservation in Lincoln, it got pretty crazy to say the least. Apparently leggings are the only acceptable form of pant at this place, so my gray jeans kind of stuck out. The game was crazy- so bad...but then so unbelievable!! Who knew Taylor Martinez could pull out something like that? And of course, Rex Burkhead...he is always the man. Always! The celebrating at Old Chicago was the best part and I spotted a Ron Jeremy look alike there...although my photo is really bad of it. Tons of fun downtown after the game, dancing, celebrating, high-fiving in the streets... The only bad part? Having to drive home at 4 in the morning. But it was soo worth it, what a fun time!

sushi & my DIY project.
This week is already flying by! I'm craving sushi again (yes...I can hear the Asian joke from here). :) Probably because I am having an obsession with Matsu Sushi, the cute little sushi place Gina and I found last week after my Spanish festival Ferias sin Fronteras. Love being able to the cook making our sushi...also, the menu included pictures of every single dish so you knew exactly what you were getting! It was soo helpful, but made me really hungry and order way more than I needed...oh well, story of my life.
Also, I finished an DIY project last night that I have officially fallen in love with! I saw this picture-frame-collage-turned-weekly-schedule on Pinterest and I just had to try it. It's super easy, you just choose scrapbook paper designs to put behind each frame, pick some pretty lettering to spell out the days of the week, and voila! You can use dry-erase markers on the plastic covering of each frame, it works amazing! I picked pretty neutral colors, but mostly to go with the new color I am going to be painting my room. Gold and black is one of my favorite color combos. :)

fashion and food.
Forever XXI is essentially one of my favorite shopping places at the moment. Since I always like to wait a while before buying anything online because it's much harder to return items, I like having a place that I can just pop into and almost always find some cute shirt or piece of jewelry that is super affordable (although I am forever buying too much from that store). Heidi and I recently went there when we were doing our usual mall crawl and I found some really great stuff, including this new shirt!
I am obsessing over statement necklaces right now, there have been some amazing pieces on Etsy and in beyourself that I want but am trying to resist! The one in my picture was on sale at Charlotte Russe...I love the gold and turquoise together.
Just thought I'd share a cute little story with you today. So I was at work tonight and, as usual, there were tons of little kids running around. A little boy (probably around 7 or 8 years old) came up to the register and asked for quarters for his five dollar bill...so as I was counting out the quarters for him, I said "Well, you have to tell me whose face is on the quarter first!" He looks at me for about 3 seconds, and then he makes a really scrunched up face, starts sobbing suddenly and goes running back to his mom yelling "THE LADY WON'T GIVE ME QUARTERS"...
I was embarassed, to say the least. Never telling that joke again.
(In case anyone wants to know, it's George Washington. Wonder how many people don't know that...)
Also, I have two recipes that I want to try sometime this week...they look absolutely delish.

And Gina and I discovered the absolute cutest sushi place downtown with fresh sushi and really cute decor...more pictures of that later! Happy Tuesday! :)
